If your UK based and booking a holiday is it better to book in GBP or in USD at the moment?

demi j asked:

I would like to book a holiday and when I get to the option to pay in Euros USD or GBP I am not sure so I did a quick check one came up in GBP for £672 and same holiday in USD was 1260 which I am sure is £630 (in GBP) so saving £42???

But then not sure if I would get charged by banks for doing it this way can anyone advise I am new to travel and have never seen any tips about things like this. Any seasoned travellers out there that could help. I am in London if that helps??

£’sssssssssss OR $’sssssssss ?????????
Thanks
