The Newcastle Quays is where it is at!

It is highly recommended that new visitors to the city pop over to the Quayside because this is where it is at. Newly regenerated, the Quayside offers energy and life and plenty of attractions in the one location! No need to use the hired car from Newcastle Airport around here or you could end up in the drink! Surrounded by water, the Newcastle Quays is a relaxing place to explore and enjoy. Other attractions here include the impressive Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, Gateshead Quays, Gateshead Millennium Bridge, more than the odd coffee house and great views across what is the historic part of Newcastle. Today where once old warehouses existed are now exclusive waterside apartments and trendy shops and bars. Looking around, it is hard to believe that the Newcastle Docks once (hundreds of years ago) had a tawdry reputation. The area has polished up nicely!

While here you are but a short journey away from the Seven Stories children’s book illustration centre. Situated in the Ouseburn Valley area, the recently opened centre carries a vast collection of children’s book manuscripts and artwork from the vintage classics to the contemporary. With activities constantly running, this is a great venue for children and children’s book lovers and you never know, you may bump into one of your favourite characters!
