Most of the places already mentioned can be warm/mild in January, but the Canary Islands are usually a bit warmer, around 20/22 degrees.

Vanessa L sounds like she loves Portugal, and so do I, having lived there a long time ago for 13 years. Algarve, by now, must be pretty trashed with tourism, but in January, it's normally pretty warm. Stay somewhere nice for less time unless you have money, I would suggest Quinta do Lago or Vale do Lobo, where I used to live. Long walks along that beach with someone you love, with the cool wind and crashing waves is wonderful. If you ride horses then go and visit Michael Vermaas at Quinta do Paraiso and rent a couple for a canter along said beaches.

I'd say Portugal. IT's an amazin' place to go to, u have outer skirts Porto, Faro, LAgos etc.. .

Or u can go to the city of Lisbon, u've got some really nice beaches there with really beautiful waters. I'd recommend Estoril, Cascais or Madeira. U've got heaps to see don' 4get to see Cristo Rei, u can't miss it. It's right near the Lisbon bridge.

But there's also Italy, Rome. Or Spain Barcelona.
