Any tips on what to do with long hair whilst travelling?

Have you thought about maybe cutting it?
I know it is hard to part w/ long hair but a nice short do could be easier maintenance.
Or, you might just have to deal w/ ponytails and braids.

Get some hair smoothers and leave in conditioners. They LOVE wavy hair in the Philippines, if that’s where you’re going. I got so many compliments.
Wear it in two plaits, or a french plait, or in a bun…
A HIGH PONYTAIL, BRAIDS.
wear a hat or something-at least then it would keep cleaner
plait it – keeps it out of the way, and you get the added bonus of looking like Lara Croft.
I would say either get a perm and use gel or just a pony tail is always cute…

Get thermal reconditioning (Japanese straightening) done in SE Asia. Also, consider getting a haircut anyway. It’s hot so hot and humid there that you won’t want to deal with the weight of hair sticking to the back of your neck.
I’d just waer it up in a pony tail during the day and maybe in a hair clip at night,

i have really long hair and just wore it nicely tied up every day. take a few hair jewels for when you go out and make the ‘messy do’ your travel look
Wrap the baby’s milk in it to keep it warm.

If you straighten your hair every single day, why not put a gentle relaxer on it before you leave for your vacation? My daughter has curly hair, regardless of whether it is long or short, and she uses a gentle relaxing formula, following up with a deep conditioner. That should help your hair stay soft, smooth and healthy looking. If you still find that you have more waves than you want, you can always use a 1 1/2 barrel curling iron, wrapping fairly large clumps of hair around the iron,pulling the hair straight as you release the iron, let your hair cool completely, then gently brush it out. If you are afraid of doing the relaxer procedure yourself, you can go to a local cosmetology school where students are learning how to do these procedures under the strict supervision of a fully licensed hair stylist. It also won’t cost as much money as going to a salon. Most salons are going to charge you an arm and a leg to professionally straighten your hair when they are basically doing the same thing that you can do using a thermal relaxer. Always make sure you use a straightening shampoo and follow-up with a good conditioner to help keep the waviness at a minimum. But remember, if your hair gets wet, it may still want to curl a little bit, but the relaxer helps reduce the amount of frizzing and curling that sometimes happens in wet weather. If you have dry hair, I would also recommend using a good glossing gel before you brush your hair. Many do not weigh down your hair, but they do have some frizziness protectors to help keep your hair looking smooth most of the day. The hair relaxer you choose should tell you how often the product can safely be used, but I think that many of the straighteners last about six weeks or so. And last but not least, if you find that your long hair is hot, you might try putting your hair in a ponytail, flipping it around and using a hair clip to give it a little extra edge. It is a really cute style for extra hot days.
I don’t blame you at all for not wanting to have to straighten your hair everyday while on vacation. That’s valuable time that you could be having lots of fun. I would gladly trade hair with you for a while because mine is waist long and straight as a board. I would love to have a little body in my hair without having to have a body wave put in it. Yes straight to the hairdressers with you get it cut short.I had my hair nice and long but decided enough was enough and had it cut real short like a boy. I love it now and its so easy to look after.
I do a lot of long term travelling. You will not need straighteners that’s for sure. I would not recommend getting it cut. I have fine hair which simply won’t grow even to shoulder length and it would be so much easier if I had long hair. You can tie it up to keep your neck cool – plaits look good too and then you can have lovely waves for the evening. Also practice using scarves and hats to cover your hair as keeping it out on the sun will maintain condition.
No one really styles their hair when travelling and you won’t worry that it isn’t smooth and sleek. Do invest in a good leave in conditioner though – the Paul Mitchell one is great.
