What do you have to do to travel overseas from Australia I am a novice traveller. SOS?

laluna asked:

I have never been overseas before – I know you need a passport, visas etc but if you just want to wing it are there any tips you can share?

So if you have your passport and visa, you go to the nearest travel agency and buy a plane ticket and off you go. Since Australia is an island continent you cant cross any borders, without paying, unless you are a good swimmer.

you may need to take shots against diseases and I would strongly advise you not to travel alone.

This depends widely on where it is you want to go. Some countries do not require tourist visas if you are just visiting on holiday for a short period of time (usually less than 90 days), but again, this will vary from country to country.

Where do you plan to travel to? Once you figure this out, it is easy to look up the restrictions on that countries embassy site in Australia.

    Good luck and have fun!
