why would you put water in milk?

bottled water is actuallly better anyway

also being that your baby is so close to being one i see no harm in giving them regular milk if you need to

I think bottled water should be fine in order to mix the formula with. At the same time, if you don’t have any available, I would suggest boiling the water in order to get some of the impurities out of the water.

I do long drives with my son and we flew a couple of short flights with him. Since I take it that you are flying, I would suggest giving the baby a bottle or pacifier when you take off or descend. Doing so would help the baby’s ear equalize. Since your child is 11 months old, bring a toy or book with you on the plane to keep the baby entertained. My best suggestion would be to try to get the baby to sleep. It is so much easier to travel when the child is asleep.

    Best of luck!

Bottled water is fine, I took my baby away at 8 months and checked with the HV. You need to check the sodium levels on the bottle but from what I remember we used Evian, you don’t actually need to boil it either which is a help!

I would use bottled water but still boil it first as some bottle water has a very high mineral content that a baby’s body cannot digest, especially if they are drinking it a lot. You can boil normal tap water as this will kill any bugs but I prefer bottled to be honest. Make sure they drink a lot of milk, water, juice to stop dehydration.
Keep your baby out of the sun as much as possible, especially between 11am and 3pm and cover them up when out in the sun. Use factor 50 Sun cream or total sun block and make sure they always wear a hat. Do you have a sun shade for your buggy, that’s brill for when you are walking around. Dress your baby in light clothes as they get really hot and sticky if they’re in the buugy for a long while. Get them in the pool a lot, apart from the fun you can have, it’s good for them in the hot temperatures.
Most of all don’t worry if she doesn’t feel like eating much. I fretted like mad when taking my 15 month old abroad for the first time. The heat made her not very hungry and all she wanted to do was drink and nibble bits here and there. Food routines go out the window on your hols and can be sorted out when you get back home!
Have a great hol. We’re off to Tunisia in 2 weeks with my hubby and 2 daughters and can’t wait!!

    Dear Plastic Dolly.
I would’nt take any chances. So bottled is the safest bet. Especially if your going on holidays you dont want the little one getting sick. Have a good one.

Personally I would buy bottled water to boil for your babies milk, I would not risk anything with a baby.

    Hi

I went to morocco recently just a word of warning, check the sodium content of the bottled water as in countries like tunisia its quite high, we found they varied from 19mg right upto 120mg – which was the one our hotel provided for free.

This is too high for an adult let alone a tiny baby and left me and my friend dizzy and dehydrated after drinking it.

But other than that Id give her normal milk, as she is nearly old enough, be aware again, they tend to use cheap powdered stuff in Tunisia hotels so look in shops out the hotel for fresh milk.

Same with orange juice, its all powdered.
Have a good time, remember to relax and try not to get too stressed, which can be hard, most babies may cry on the plane with the pressure, try and work drinks around the flight so you feed her on the takeoff and landing, this works to release the pressure in the ears.

Its recommended you get bulk head seats as they give more room.

If she’s walking yet make the most of the wait at the airport and knacker her out walking her up and down, change her nappy just before boarding, there are changing fold down tables in the toilet on the plane but it is small and hard so take a blanket or somthing for her to lie on, lots of wipes are essential.

If she dosent have her own seat, take a baby carrier/sling as these ensure you can have her on your knee and use both hands to read/eat/drink without the risk of her falling.

Take snacks her favorite toys and some new things to entertain her, the flight is only around 3hrs but babys get bored very easy!

The seats are also a good idea by the toilets as there are always people stood waiting by them, most of these will chat and play with the baby while waiting, giving you a small break.

Sun hats are essential, were going to Tunisia in July with my daughter who will be 2.5yrs when we go and ive bought loads, also theres a new sunscreen out which is water and sand resistent.

Take a tiny blow up pool or buy one out there and a smalll fold up bucket (mothercare, its made of rubber and very light), you can put the pool inbetween your sunlounger and your partners and fill it from the swimming pool/sea. baby can then splash around next to you safely while you sit and sunbathe / read etc and relax!

If your little one is not walking but crawling then buy some knee pads for babies off ebay take a look at this ref

search for OUT OF PRAM BABY KNEE PADS

As they make it easier on their knees on the hard floors often found inside hotels and appartments, and of course outside!

A lightweight buggy of course, a great one if you can afford to spend on a new one is the Cosatto Hula, it has a built in 50uv sun visor which you roll down its tucked up inside the hood, blocks over 90% of uv rays and folds up nice and small umbrella size, they retail at £69.99.

An add on sun protection visor for any pushchair costs about £29.00 so its worth buying the buggy with one built in.

Im also taking a mini dvd player for evenings with her favorite dvds as tv in tunisia is a bit carp! No kids shows shown in the hotel tvs at all usually.

    Overall have a great time!

well, you wouldn’t drink the tapped water so you would use bottles of water.
