How to extend stay in the UK as a south-african citizen ? Any information will be kindly appreciated?

Ok. So I’m a SA citizen, have been on the working holiday scheme thing that will expire June 2007. In june, i’ll be going on a long holiday (in a EU country), and I plan to return to UK in august. What are my options ? How long would I be allowed in the UK after that on a tourist visa? Can I get the tourist visa from a country other than UK ? (i’ll be in Hungary). Thanks for any information you can give me.

Isn’t South Africa part of the Commonwealth? Couldn’t you come here on a visa to do with the Commonwealth. Do you have family background here, ie, do you have grandparents that were British? You might be able to claim nationality through them. Failing that your best bet is to contact the Home Office here maybe the South African Embassy in London or wherever that is in the UK.
I wouldn’t rely on being able to return in August. You may not be given a tourist visa, given that you’ll have recently completed a two-year holiday here, albeit a working one.
You probably ought to be looking at other visa options, including ancestry if you have any UK grandparents – there are similar ancestry rules for other European countries, which might – eventually – allow you to claim citizenship of an EU country, and unrestricted access to the UK. Other options include student visas, highly skilled migrant, etc. You can look at all the options on the link below.
In principle you could get the visa from the UK embassy in Hungary, but whether it would be granted and how long it might take…..
If you’ve had your time as a WHM then you take your chances at the UK border, needing as you will to prove that you qualify for entry as a visitor with the intention only to remain for a limited time and with no need to take employment. Personally, the first thing I’d want to know is how come two years as a WHM wasn’t long enough to visit the UK.
You could seek to apply for a tourist visa (at at UK Embassy) whilst outside of the UK. If granted then you’d have the presumptive right of re-entry, but if refused you’d be doubly screwed for getting back in.
dont come to uk we have far too many people here ileagle or otherwise
