Can anyone recommend anything off the beatern track at Alanya, Turkey?

Travelling Artist asked:

I usually holiday somewhere remote or where I can mix with the local people/food/language, we’ve booked this last minute package deal and while i know we’re going to be in the centre of tourist-ville, I’d really like some tips about where to go to get out of it and see Turkey without travelling miles. Any tips? We’ll hire a scooter and I’ll be dragging my bloke to the archaeological sites. I’m an artist and photographer, so any tips on where to go for inspiration would be brilliant too. Many thanks, guys.

Alanya is quite far from the decent sites of Turkey, there is definatly no places you can visit on a scooter, I would seriously advice hiring a car or even better you would be better off as its will work out a lot cheaper to book tour trips.
The sites to see around this Antalya area are
    -Pamukale
-The ancient city of Hierapolis (near Pamukale)
-Waterfalls around Antalya such as Dudan
-Side and Perge both hold historical sites
    - Side and Antalya have Harbours
-Kale where Tomb of Santa Nicolas is (where the idea of Santa Claus Originates from
-Cappadocia is a Holy land from Pre-Christianity times and has saved many underground Churches -Chapels, mosaics and lots of ancient sites
-Saklikent translated Hidden city Ski resort
-Belek over 15 golf courses if your a golfer

If you google all the places i have mentioned you can read up on those and decide which you would have more interest in visiting.
Places like Pamukale and Duden would be great for photos if your a photographer and would make a great piece of art to draw/paint.
Good luck and have a great holiday.

unfortunately when in Alanya you won’t even no your in turkey It could be Germany or Russia. If you want to see how the Turks really live then you need to go to a less developed area. Rent a car or get on a bus and explore. Great country, friendly people,
