Since Inverness received city status, the town of Fort William is now the largest of them all in the Highlands of Scotland. It is located at the southern edge of Great Glen and was originally created around the village of Inverlochy. It sits on the shores of both Loch Linnhe and Loch Eil and is close to the highest mountain in the British Isles, Ben Nevis.
